Rules for Driving in Los Angeles
Driving in the city of Angeles is a frustrating experience. The minute that you get on the road you are sure to encounter multiple unnecessary obstacles. After years behind the wheel, I am convinced that the most egregious offender is the PIOLIN driver.
"What , pray tell, is the PIOLIN driver?" you may ask.
This subspecies of motorists feel compelled to drive:
a) an overloaded 1989 Isuzu truck (weighted down with a leaf-blower and/or unsecured building materials)
b) a moronically lowered 5.0 Ford Mustang with (illegally) pitch-black tinted windows (often including the front windshield) and with enormous back window sticker featuring a HUGE Nike swoosh (symbolizing fealty to non-union, unsafe, pay-below-minimum-wage, sweatshop labor) and/or stickers with Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) urinating on the words "La Migra."
c) a battered Chevy Astrovan/Plymouth Voyager with 17 occupants and a gigantic Brahman-bull sticker placed sloppily on the paint on the driver's side door.
What do they all have in common? Every one is driving BELOW the speed limit in the far left (i.e. fast lane) and/or the H.O.V (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane. The drivers will carry on extended text messaging sessions with another PIOLIN aficionado, presumably seated in the back of the same vehicle and grimace away at any person with the temerity to attempt to pass them. The fundamental characteristic of these people is the unmitigated hatred they evince toward those who dare presume that the roads should be used for rapid transit.
"Why PIOLIN?" those not spending 45 mintues to drive 5 miles might ask.
PIOLIN is a Mexican DJ/talk show host who, as an amnestied illegal alien, brought 500,000 (primarily illegal) immigrants to the streets of Los Angeles to DEMAND "immigration reform" (AKA amnesty and open borders). Happily waving Mexican flags, and many sporting bandannas over their faces, they were oblivious to the fact such a protest would be illegal in Mexico, as its government does not allow foreigners to influence the governmental policy.
Imagine if Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage or Bill O'Reilly had inspired the same number to rally in support of our Constitution. "Hate, hate, hate!" the left would cry.
The drivers with PIOLIN bumper stickers are not "living in the shadows" as our beloved leader so often says. They are driving 45 mph in the fast lanes of Los Angeles.
