Offensive to whom? Halloween "Tolerance"
Today's Orange County Register ran an article with the tagline "'Illegal Alien' costumes stoke anti-Latino fervor."
Really?
There is no evidence of any "anti-Latino fervor" cited in the column by Yvette Cabrerra.
The column extols the racist organization LULAC 's success in getting TARGET stores to remove a Halloween costume they deemed "offensive"
If the truth be told, this is not about the insensitive nature of the costume; this is about POWER politics pure and simple.

The key is to ask "Who does this offend?" If a costume offended conservatives and they stated such feelings, their views would be denounced as "CENSORSHIP" and "INTOLERANCE."
The statements would be met with cries that "If you don't like the costume, you don't have to wear it!"
The costume in question in the Register article were space aliens with large mustachios and inmate orange jumpsuits labeled "illegal alien." Each costumes also contained an over sized cards, green in color (never mind the fact that ILLEGAL aliens do not have "green cards") to wear around the neck.
Obviously, the outfit is a play on the double meaning of the word "alien."
The piece ran under the headline "Behind The Mask" and made statements of outrage and suffering on behalf of Hispanics who are "fighting back" at this "dehumanization."
Let's compare this to the response of the hanging of an effigy of a mother of five last Halloween.
Yes, it was all in good fun when a West Hollywood homosexual staged what he called an "installation" of Sara Palin being hung from a noose. Never mind the argument that as a political candidate she was fair game. Imagine if the body was that of candidate Obama?
The double standards of the Left are astounding. There is something going on here; the vulnerable are being dehumanized.
The illegal alien costume suggests no violence, but hanging a woman, a specific woman, from her neck is inherently violent.
One can file this under the typical hypocrite Left, but there is a trend here. If we accept the premise of these Chicano activists and open-borders enthusiasts that a parody is equal to hate, then there must be a moratorium on anything that minimizes or mocks any ethnic or cultural group. In other words, no more free speech for writers, comics or artists, because, let's face it, someone is always going to be offended.
If we accept their premise that poking fun at a group means that you "hate" that group then the rule should apply to EVERYBODY shouldnt it?
Hmmm.... what groups CAN you make fun of with impunity? What about Christians? What about Evangelicals? What about men in general and "straight", white males in particular?
An entire generation is being indoctrinated to believe that European culture and heritage should be derided as foolish and moronic.

Dr. Pepper is running a commercial where former NWA member, and purveyor of violent gangsta rap, Dr. Dre shows an absurdly clownish Anglo disc jockey how to be "cool" in 30 seconds via his soda can.
Of course, there is also the "Pizza Delivery" guy (white) who sneaks into the mansion of the cool, urbane and hip black man by posing as a pizza guy when it is really DiGiorno!
White children are being taught to be ashamed and embarrassed of Western Civilization and their own ethnicity by our media while third world immigrants are seen as exemplars of all that is "hip."
With the slightest hint that they too are fair game for a Halloween costume parody, the screams go out and the offending Target stores respond instantly with lock-step obedience.
What is going on?
