The fall of communism doesn't seem to be a lesson that Obama wants to remember. For a man who wants to constantly rehearse the crusades, Mr. Obama seems strangely mum on the most miraculous political event of the 20th century.
On last night's O'Reilly Factor, the host ran a clip of an impossibly young Bill O'Reilly with a full head of dark hair standing in front of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago. In that clip, shot when Mr. O'Reilly was a correspondent for Inside Edition, the reporter made the assertion that the fall of communism was as significant as the fall of Nazi Germany in 1945. Surely, the two events are some of the most momentous and happiest occasions of the 20th Century. Ronald Reagan famously challenged the USSR to tear down the wall, and two years later it did. Surely, our President, who saw fit to campaign in Germany during the last election, would be on hand to commemorate all those lives lost in the fight for freedom. He did not.
This should come as no surprise if one considers the company he keeps. His "pastor" of 20-plus years, Jeremiah Wright, hates America and white people. This is not my conclusion, but from his own words. Obama's wife wrote her college thesis on the racist nature of America. His "green jobs czar," Van Jones, was forced to leave office when Fox News revealed that he was a self-proclaimed Marxist and a man who believes that 9/11 was an inside job.
Mr. Obama and his fellow travelers on the left never believed that the USSR or Mao's China were a threat to America in the same way that they do not believe that radical Islam is a threat to America. The same attitude that allowed a dangerous zealot like Nidal Hasan to continue in his job as a US Army Officer at Fort Hood allowed the pro-Stalinist left to thrive in entertainment, academia and the media. To point this out is to be smeared as engaging in something called "McCarthyism," which is simply pointing out the treason of the Left.
Left wingers are know-it-alls. They know best and want you all to conform to their ideas. They have all the answers with a ready made template called "dialectical materialism" that serves as a sort of socio-economic Magic Eight Ball. As a result of their certitude, they go absolutely berserk when someone or something does not fit into their neatly compartmentalized narrative. They are like the broken robot in the 50's Sci-Fi films repeating, "It Does Not Compute" over and over before it explodes.
Clarence Thomas, a brilliant black conservative (who came from a far more difficult childhood than Barack or Michelle Obama) is an "Uncle Tom" according to the Leftists. Sara Palin, a successful career woman, must be an "unfit mother" for bearing all those children and not aborting her disabled baby.
For people like Bill Ayers, the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union, which propped it up for all those years, should never have fallen.
For people like Van Jones and Anita Dunn the Tianmen Square massacre would have been the appropriate response to all those "capitalist reactionaries."
The fall of the Berlin Wall is the worst event to happen in the mind of the armchair Marxist. What French political scientist Jean Francois Revel called "the totalitarian temptation" is a laudable goal for people like Michelle and Barack Obama. He is not a JFK Democrat. He pursues goals similar to those of the "workers paradise" of East Germany. Universal healthcare and command and control of what Lenin called the "commanding heights" of the economy (automobiles, transportation, energy, steel) by the government.
The wall and the Soviet Union crumbled twenty years ago. This was a nightmare for the Leftist elites of our nation, many of whom now on the American college campus, the last bastion of the Stalinist "true believer" in the US.
Mr. and Mrs. Obama are the absolute ideal in the mind of the American professorate because they share the same worldview. The American people, disgusted with the excesses of the Bush years voted for"change," but this is a center-right nation. The American people, who have rejected "gay" marriage 31 out of 31 times, would never elect a man like Obama's "safe schools czar" Kevin Jennings who is pushing the radical gay agenda on kindergartners and advised a boy to "wear a condom" when he was being sexually exploited by an adult male teacher.
"Safe schools," indeed, for whom?
Mr. Obama ran, as all liberals do (and must), as a "moderate." They cannot get elected to nationwide office otherwise. He has, by his appointments and policy, shown himself to be a man of the extreme left. Obama follows all of the hallmarks of the Fabian socialist. He wants control of the media (note his heavy-handed attempt to marginalize Fox News) and wishes to "re-educate" those who disagree with his utopian visions. He promotes a social anarchy policy of open borders and "tolerance"toward radical Islam while simultaneously seeking to silence and marginalize those who he described as "clinging to God, guns and religion." With accolades on the part of the Nobel Prize committee and the Harvard faculty lounge, he is no populist from the streets. He is one of them, and he shares their prejudices against middle-class, mainstream, Christian Americans.
Here's the script: Reagan was a well-meaning dolt who just lucked out with the timing of the fall of the Berlin Wall; the Soviets were a noble experiment in communism. They didn't get it right, but we just need to keep trying; Alger Hiss was innocent, as were Julius and Ethel Rosenberg.
These over-educated, ivory-tower Leftists refuse to acknowledge the evidence to the contrary proved by the Venona documents. They say they are all about the intellect and the fostering of sound reasoning. Their actions and words prove otherwise.
It all makes sense. Why would the Obamas celebrate the fall of Erich Honecker's police state?
Give this guy a show on Fox.........
