One of the few things that strikes genuine fear and loathing into the hearts of the elite media and Leftist of all stripes is a robust , unapologetic Christianity.  When Christians are not afraid to face the scorn and mockery of James (aka Golem from Lord of the Rings) Carville and Rachel ("is that a woman?") Maddow, the left knows it is in trouble.  The simple fact is that, in spite of Mr. Obama's wishes, this is still a majority Christian nation with a history based on Christian values,  (Thanksgiving is a holiday to thank God, not the Indians!)

Every time the Left offers the people an opportunity to vote on its current Liberal pet-project, the people reject it.   "Gay" marriage has NEVER won the popular vote ANYWHERE in the US (including California). 

Leftists must run to the right to get elected.  Candidate Obama portrayed himself as a "moderate."  He did not trot out Michelle's racist/neo-Marxist college dissertation or Van Jones, or Kevin Jennings. The Left must run this way or they will not win.  Judge Sotomayor distances and equivocated her "wise Latina" remarks during her confirmation hearings.  At those hearings, she sounded as if her judicial philosophy was more Clarence Thomas than Bader-Ginsburg.  The Left knows that they must do so because outside of San Francisco, Los Angeles/Hollywood and Manhattan there are a lot more Palins than Maddows.  This is the secret they try to hide via the use of caricature and slander.  They do not want you to realize that you are not alone and that your Faith and your values are that of the vast majority.

A huge event happened recently with the publication of the Manhattan Declaration.

Chuck Colson, one of the declarations contributors, recommended reading Hannah Arendt's The Origins of Totalitarianism, which he called "prophetic in its application to today. . . . The destruction of civil society has always been prelude to a totalitarian government." The Declaration points to "intellectuals" and "elites" who shared and share Hitler's genocidal ambitions: eugenic notions such as the doctrine of lebensunwertes leben ("life unworthy of life") which were first advanced in the 1920s by intellectuals in the elite salons of America and Europe.  Long buried in ignominy after the horrors of the mid 20th century, they have returned from the grave.  The only difference is that now the doctrines of the eugenicists are dressed up in the language of "liberty," "autonomy," and "choice."

Obama and his media stooges mock Sarah Palin's references to "death panels," but what else do you call a government cut off of healthcare to the elderly, advocacy of abortion and "end of life" counseling?

Sad to say, in an era where our President promotes healthcare run by the same government that cannot supply adequate Swine Flu vaccines and stranded thousands to Hurricane Katrina, these are not abstractions.  Want to know how well the government runs things?  Check the public schools of any big city; you will find violence, sloth, and ignorance.  In the Los Angeles Unified School District, 50% of freshman don't even graduate from high school and those who do cannot find Canada on map.  (They do know how to put a condom on a banana, which they learned in that all important "heath" class).  Go to the DMV; you will find rudeness and incompetence.  Long lines and surly employees are the norm and please don't show any mild displeasure at having to wait 45 minutes when you have an appointment because that same sour employee will tell you to "calm down" or she will call the sheriff to come arrest you.

The ethical choices of life and death decisions are seen in the Oregon woman who was offered "end of life counseling" instead of cancer treatment.  They are seen in the cost/benefit analysis of those who would stop breast cancer screenings to save a few bucks, which would go to their constituents' favored issues (AIDS research and "education," and illegal immigrants subsidies.)

The Manhattan Declaration scares the Left and the Leftist blogosphere is off the charts spewing vitriol in response to its common sense assertions.  

In light of this fact alone, every conservative must read and sign the declaration.
