Haiti And Our President

It is instructive to compare our president's response to the recent Haitian earthquake and the Ft. Hood murders by Islamic fanatic Nidal Hasan and the attempted Christmas terror bombing in the skies above the USA.

In the first instance, Mr Obama quickly rushed to speak with great gravitas about our commitment to the Haitian people. One wonders who the intended audience for Obama's dramatic gesture was since the Haitians have no power, and in the extremely rare circumstances that they have access to international television and radio, their communications abilities are limited to Creole, not English.

Let us be clear. It is a laudable for America to reach out and help the helpless. The people of Haiti are living in abject poverty with an incalculably corrupt political class, no infrastructure and general hopelessness. In spite of Mr. Obama's absurd assertion to the contrary, the United States is still a Christian nation. It remains a Christian imperative to help those in need.

Having said that, Mr. Obama appeared singularly nonplussed by the suffering of our fellow American citizens in the wake of the Islamic terror attack and killings at Ft Hood. Mr Obama started his initial press conference after news of the murders broke with a "shout out" to his pals supporting government takeover of medicine. There was no such revelry prior to his statements of support for Haiti in wake of the earthquake.

Mr Obama appeared far more concerned about the possibility of what he called a "rush to judgment" in the aftermath of a Muslim murdering US citizens. While playing golf on (yet another) vacation he showed no more concern for the potential victims of the Christmas air attack by a Nigerian Muslim.

Mr Obama's Spock-like attitude was reminiscent of the bloodless response of fellow Democrat Michael Dukakis who, when queried about his reaction to a hypothetical rape and murder of his wife Kitty, responded with a bureaucrat's ennui.

Has anybody informed Mr. Obama that he was elected by the American people? Does he understand that there is no "global community" merely nations who posses national interests?

Is this man the President of Islam? The Premier of Haiti? The Globalism Czar?

Oh yes, it is so easy to forget. Someone elected him President of the United States.
