Yes,"Cinco De Mayo" is not their Independence Day.  It is merely a minor historical footnote where a band of Mexicans- not the Mexican Army-  beat a French brigade in an insignificant battle.

The holiday will be ignored widely by our historically illiterate elites (who used 5 May to banish American flags from public schools).

This Thursday use the opportunity to ask your Mexican nationalist friends just who Mexico won its independence from and when it did so.

ELVISNIXON guarantees 99% will have absolutely no idea and will probably "correct" you and refer to "Cinco de  Mayo" as the most vital day for U.S. school children to study the because of the great contributions of Mexico to American culture. Evidently these are: dog fighting, illiteracy, gangs, crime, rape, drunk driving and identity theft.

While you are asking your amigos this question about their "proud" history (they invariably profess violent pride in being "brown" and in glorious Me-hee-koh), ask yourself when and if we the people of the United States will be independent of Mexico.

By allowing/promoting illegal immigration, we are propping up the corrupt government of Mexico. Illegal immigration is Mexico's welfare system. The Mexican government and its super wealthy count on illegals sending tax free dollars back to Baja, Jalisco, Tabasco (yes, that is a state in Mexico) and Chihuahua (believe it or not, that is too)

When can we stop losing jobs to illegal workers who pay no taxes?  Answer: when we stop financing day care for illegals (public "education"), free tuition to California colleges, "Chicano Studies" departments at U.S. taxpayer universities, free emergency room "clinicias."  We must stop this violent and illegal "reconquista" if we are to preserve all that is good about the United States.

Maybe then we too can celebrate an authentic "Independence Day."
