“Look Sharp” to Redistricting
“Look sharp!” my Grandmother used to say, normally milliseconds before she tossed something at me. It might have been a hot biscuit or meat cleaver, but the grandsons learned to pay attention and brace when they heard the words. So “look sharp” after redistricting gets through in the state legislature. Pay attention when district maps come out the first week in June, because Texas is getting four new U.S. Congressmen somewhere—and one potentially in the Central Texas area. Bottom line, however, it is absolutely essential that we put only true conservatives into all four of those seats, men and women well-versed in the Constitution, who will carry unabashedly the Tea Party message of less taxation, a simple tax code, less “Washington” all the way around! It is time that we Texans elect officials who will supply the political leadership required to save this country, and those of you who read this column are part of the vanguard of this great effort.
In the interest of transparency, if Bell County is in a new and open district, I intend to announce my candidacy for U.S. Congress and take the Tea Party Message to D.C. and stand up for the Great State of Texas. We are absolutely Taxed Enough Already—indeed over-taxed, over-regulated, and overcome (or should be) with indignation at the way our leaders must think of us! The political class has come to view us as an elite views its subjects—mere children, more often like cogs in the deteriorating economic wheel or hamsters in a cage. But we are not pawns in the political game with the rules set up by Big Government, Big Labor, Big Banks and Big Business—or any collusion of the same. We are and shall ever be free and independent and self-reliant, made in the image and likeness of God—not needing to consult a tax-supported guide written by an expert, to know how much of a man or woman we are! Not needing direction from the government to know how to get up in the morning, go to work, support our families, and pursue our dreams.
Many of you involved or not in the Tea Party Movement, worked diligently in 2010 to send a signal to Austin and Washington and to effect real difference in the political races of 2010. That election turned out great, but I’m telling you that neither political party has gotten the message yet—if the Republicans are getting that message, then tell me how $38.5 billion in “historic” spending cuts this year just turned into $370 million from their fuzzy math; or why that party can’t categorically say ‘no way, no how’ will Congress vote to raise the national debt ceiling, without agreement on the budget for more serious spending cuts like those proposed by Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI).
What we need to begin right here, right now is a second “wave” election in 2012! We have a major strategic opportunity in the State of Texas for conservative groups to get mobilized and cause a political earthquake in Washington, because liberal states are losing their representation, and Texas is gaining four new U.S. Congressmen as I mentioned—so as they used to say in the military, ride towards the sound of the guns! Network, organize, mobilize to ensure that those four congressmen—whomever you choose and wherever those four districts end up being—make sure you make the difference and select the real McCoy in the primaries of March 2012—because those campaigns will start in just about two months’ time.
We need to toss President Obama out on his ear, along with another batch of tax-and-spend liberal bleeding heart do-gooder socialists, who are destroying our Constitution and our Country! We need to reduce government spending for the sake of economy sure, but also because it is the only way to get at the corresponding size of government; and we have to reduce government size and scope if we are to ever restore the constitutional Republic. The crisis of the Constitution is integrally related to our financial crisis, and to runaway government spending. The battles we wage in defense of the Constitution including the Tenth Amendment will determine the fate of our country in terms of the freedoms we enjoy, and our prosperity.
As you know Texas is one of more than half of the states that have filed suit to preclude implementation of the Obamacare legislation on constitutional grounds. If the federal government can tell you that you have to take your own money and buy a certain kind of private product, whether insurance or orange juice—it isn’t your money, and it isn’t your choice, and private transactions are no longer private. The federal overreach is so gross, that Texas and other states must be prepared to nullify, if necessary, the implementation of Obamacare legislation.
And here’s something else: stop worrying whether someone else thinks this discussion amounts to “civil” political discourse. Let me tell you what: there’s nothing civil about slavery, political or otherwise! There is nothing civil about the crushing level of taxation we experience now—much less what it would be after Obamacare. There is nothing civil about government regulations and the thousands of tiny strings that lash us down and limit every conceivable activity—and there is no objective way really to describe it, except as government oppression and tyranny.
Our American and Texas Forefathers would have known what to do! And I believe they have our backs today. God Bless America and the Sovereign State of Texas forever!
