WW II Veteran's Letter to Obama

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.. So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends & enemies despicable lies like: " We're no longer a Christian nation." "America is arrogant" (Your wife even announced to the world," America is mean- spirited. "Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander- in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Destruction of American Middle Class Within a Decade by Wes Riddle

A new book by Tom Pauken, Bringing America Home (Rockford, Illinois: Chronicles Press, 2010) covers many varied topics ranging from the economy and foreign policy, to politics and culture. As the book’s sub-title, How America Lost Her Way and How We Can Find Our Way Back suggests, it offers a veritable platform for guiding these United States back safely as it were, through crisis and challenges, by implementing a series of common sense and traditional conservative policies. One chapter in particular makes the book entirely worthwhile, even if one reads nothing else. Namely, Chapter 5 details the ongoing destruction of the American Middle Class through both poorly devised economic policies and outright failure of political leadership in Washington.

Unlike many on the Republican side, Pauken is not a mouthpiece for big business or the corporate elite. His sentiments are with populist Main Street, admitting what many liberals have sounded from the hills for quite some time, that the rich are indeed getting richer while the Middle Class grows poor. His solution is not a resort to socialism or to government takeover, however, but a return to free market capitalism and to limited constitutional government run in the interest of Americans. Pauken explains that what has caused existential inequality, as well as the hardship on the Middle Class is not free market capitalism but a corrupted form or crony capitalism. It is the self-serving alliance between Big Government and Big Business, and between the corresponding drives for both power and profit.

Pauken is highly critical of the lack of business ethics and humanity evinced by modern American business practice. Some in business at the highest levels of management raid their own corporate assets for personal gain and pass off the wreckage to others. Similar behavior gave rise to the recent housing bubble that burst and to instability in what amounts to a “bubble economy,” with originators of loans and mortgages deliberately and sometimes deceitfully evading responsibility for risky financial behavior. The business culture in this respect mirrors a decline in standards of morality throughout the broader culture. For all the obscene bonuses and exploitive practices on Wall Street, however, these do not explain why manufacturing jobs have left or why real income for the Middle Class has shrunk.

According to Pauken, “A central reason for…[the] huge trade deficits and the shift of economic power from Main Street to Wall Street is a business tax system that gives private-equity moguls incentives to take such risks with the companies they control.” They have an advantage over U.S. company owners who might otherwise run businesses in a conservative fashion. Simply stated, business debt is encouraged because it can be written off on taxes, whereas the 35% corporate tax rate discourages business savings and investment. Except for the U.S., every major trading country in the world provides tax advantages for domestic manufacturers. Information technology companies are outsourcing now at an alarming rate for a similar reason.

Moreover, U.S. goods shipped overseas carry an average added 18% tax burden compared with most foreign competitors, and this keeps trade deficits widening every year. According to Warren Buffet, the trade deficit is possibly of greater worry than the budget deficit or consumer debt burden near-term, because we have to borrow from other countries to finance it. The annual account deficit is now more than $800 billion. The politically chic idea that the U.S. would somehow sustain its quality of life for the Middle Class while giving up its manufacturing base and transforming into the world’s premier ‘knowledge-based economy’ was a sheer fantasy. The competitive global environment and rampant trend towards American outsourcing has gone on unabated and continues, while elective politicians mouth empty promises and defend a principle of “free trade” amidst the uneven playing field and structural disadvantages created by America’s own stupid business tax system.

Americans are clinging to their Middle Class status, living paycheck to paycheck, mired in consumer debt and finding it difficult to find good jobs or to work the requisite number of hours needed to pay their bills. Meanwhile Pauken says, “We are passing out money we do not have through a Keynesian stimulus package designed to revive the economy.” Moody’s has declared the United States runs the risk of losing its triple-A credit rating within a decade if the federal government does not bring soaring levels of spending down. Imagine what this will mean if the U.S. has to finance its debt at dramatically higher interest rates owing to the loss of most favored bond rating status!

In part it was this sobering recognition, which led Jim Bunning (R-KY) to bravely though ineffectually remind his colleagues in the Senate that even unemployment benefits have to be paid for. Lawmakers couldn’t find the $10 billion to do so. The annual budget deficit is running $1.35 trillion this year, and the national debt topped $12 trillion and is set to double in less than ten years—and when it does the U.S. will lose its triple-A credit rating. One economist remarked that America today resembles less the developed economic superpower we have come to think of, and more like something of an emerging market having both a weak currency and huge deficits. America is headed for the perfect economic storm, as well as destruction of its vaunted Middle Class inside the decade unless we reverse track resolutely and swiftly.

'Hate' Crime Hoax:Compton Cookout

Todays Los Angeles Times published yet another piece titled Don't Sweat the Buffoons by Gregory Rodriguez. Mr Rodriguez lambastes "contemporary racism" and uses Orwellian language to imply the need for reeducation and thought police. Haven't you heard about the racists at the University of California, San Diego? It seems that they held an incredibly insensitive party based on a "Compton Cookout" theme. Participants dressed in black face and employed racial stereotypes. A white fraternity sponsored the on-campus event. The outrage has been loudly denounced by the Los Angeles Times and a wide range of professors,democrats and tenured,left wing political activists.

One big problem.

The Compton Cookout party was not held on the UCSD campus and was not organized by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Rather, it was organized by an African American comedian and non-student named Nipsey Washington, whose stage name is Jiggaboo Jones, to celebrate the release of his new DVD. Jones had held these parties across the country for years, including at UCSD. In fact, he toned down the title from the previous "Nigga Night." This should have been obvious from the beginning. The invitation to the event had a picture of Jones with a T-Shirt with his name on it.

To his great credit, Jones has made an impassioned attack on the politically correct activists on his website that is worth quoting at length, verbatim:

“[S]ome hate mongering black people had told a pack of lies about our event stating that a White Fraternity and several members of the KKK threw a Racist party that made fun of black people. This lie was quickly soaked up by people with some kind of political agenda to spread hate and discontent among people who attend UCSD.

“The divisive few told a ‘Woa is me’ tale of how all blacks at UCSD are almost lynched in trees seemingly everyday. Members of the media ate this up because this type of story sells papers, gets people pissed off and keeps them tuning in. Blog sites went crazy and facebook fascists took their laptops and started the witch hunt that would ruin the reputations of several good hearted people and their families with their inaccurate statements…

“As I jumped in and pulled the curtain back exposing the fact that it was never a racist event and explained the whole mix-up, I was hung up on, called an uncle tom and was accused of getting paid off to ‘Cover for the Racists’…“The Compton Cookout was simply a great chance to knock down the walls of racial division and to get all sides to enjoy poking fun at all elements of racial tension. Some of these groups like The ‘Black Student Union’ and their connected ‘political activists’ won’t allow this progress because it threatens their very existence. They simply can’t have events like this because it undermines their foothold and exposes the fact that they are obsolete and in soon need of being disbanded. These political hacks played to your fears and suspicions instead of letting you all in on the whole story. The really sad part is many of you ran into the streets with ‘Torches & Pitchforks’ without thinking about the fact that maybe someone had been withholding valuable information. This reminds me of something so familiar….”
Jones contacted the university, the media, and politicians explaining that he, rather than the students organized the event, and if they wanted to get upset at someone, it should be him. They all ignored him. Other than the redoubtable former mayor of San Diego and Radio Talk Show Host Roger Hedgecock, no one in the MSM has covered this aspect of the story.

The liberal,managed, Main Stream Media ( MSM) simply would not let this inconvenient fact get in the way of the way of the lynch mob. A recent Google News Search of "Compton Cookout" revealed 1,184 stories. "Compton Cookout" and "Jiggaboo Jones" yields only six, none from major newspapers.

Speaker-elect of the State Assembly John A. Pérez, Speaker Karen Bass, various members of "Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Latino, LGBT and Women’s caucuses," and a variety of other professional grievance organizations at the State Capital to call for a lynch mob. Speaker pro Tempore Isadore Hall, III, who represents Compton, demanded that

"university officials should act swiftly to sanction all responsible parties including the revocation of fraternity or sorority charters, the full repayment of any public funds used to support these organizations and the individual suspension or expulsion of any student found responsible for planning or participating in this act of hate."

Left wing professors held teach-ins on racism. But this was not enough for the minority students, who walked out. Eritrean-America Black Student Union vice chairman Fnann Keflezighi explained that the teach-in "would make us quiet." The BSU responded by holding protests with a list of 32 demands that would for all practical purposes put them in charge of the school.

You get the idea.

Miss Keflezighi’s claim that the UCSD administration’s holding special events specifically to address the concerns of Black Student Union was trying to make them “quiet” is especially bizarre given how the school actually treated critics of the whiny minority groups. Thus a campus humor publication called The Koala mocked the complaints on Student Run Television and on its website by pointing out that the UCSD Black Alumni Association was holding a deliberately stereotypical "Kool Aid 'n' Chicken" party in the midst of this controversy. The Koala joked on its website:

"The Koala would like to condemn the organizers of the Compton Cookout. If history has shown us anything, you need more black people at your party to have enough black-on-black violence to actually justify the name Compton.’ Shame on you. SHAME."

The student government responded to this obvious satire by shutting down the entire Student Run TV station, and freezing funds of 33 student groups.

According to USCD student body president Utsav Gupta [Email him],"[w]e will only open [Student Run Television] again when we can be sure that such hateful content can never be aired again on our student funded TV station."[UC San Diego Freezes Funds for 33 Media Groups, Dissolves Student TV, Threatens to Punish Students for Protected Speech, TheFire.org, February 23, 2010]

Wow, those leftists sure do HATE free speech dont they?

Compare this to the response when jihadi murderer Nidal Hasan gave his speech advocating killing Christians and other "infidels"

On March 1, The LA Times editorial "Beyond a ‘Compton Cookout’," began, "Now we know the truth." But The Truth was not that the alleged racist fraternity party was actually hosted by a black comedian, but rather.

"The infamous "Compton Cookout" at UC San Diego, where members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity invited guests to celebrate Black History Month dressed as their favorite ghetto stereotypes, was not an isolated incident. Nor can it be chalked up to standard-issue frat behavior, in which a degree of misogyny, bigotry and drunken insensitivity is often shrugged off as normal college hijinks."

What are the other incidents that make this incident non-“isolated”?

On February 25, someone hung a noose from in the campus library. The predictable response ensued. Students stormed the offices of Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and held a sit in for six hours. No one was arrested or disciplined. Students at other colleges held similar protests. At UC Berkeley students set trash cans ablaze, broke into a library under renovation where they smashed windows and sprayed graffiti.

Instead of denouncing this lawlessness, the ten Chancellors of the University of California campuses issued a joint statement deploring these "acts of racism, intolerance and incivility."

Bowing to the BSU’s demands, Chancellor Fox created a special "Battle Against Hate" website, stating

"Recently, derogatory, hate- and bias-related events have rocked UC San Diego. Hate in the form of these horrific and repugnant acts has threatened to divide our campus. Racism is not going to happen in our community. The university is committing its resources – legal, moral, ethical, communal and educational – to make positive, necessary changes on our campus. UC San Diego is working with the university’s Black Student Union to address these issues and ensure that our students feel safe, supported and respected so that they can succeed. Please join us in the battle against hate at UC San Diego"

—and that she would address the BSU’s demands.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who last year signed a bill to make hanging a noose in public a crime punishable with up to a year in jail, called it a "horrific act" of racism.

Of course there is the usual problem: the perpetrator came forward and described herself as "a minority student who sympathizes with the students that have been affected by the recent issues on campus." [See police report, PDF]

Amazingly, this revelation has not stopped the BSU, the media, and other assorted victimologists from decrying the noose as an incident indicative of racism on campus.

Of course no one had suggested that there might be the slightest possibility this latest “hate crime” might not be the work of the imaginary white racists who dominate UCSD.

Given how the administration, media, and politicians bend over backward to address the whining of the Black Student Union and other groups, it’s hard to say exactly how the school is really an inhospitable environment to African Americans. Their real gripe: there are not enough blacks on campus. Of course the politicians and the school administration would love nothing more than to let unqualified minorities on campus. But the people of California, who voted out race preferences, do not agree.

The truth is these left wing minority student “radicals” are not rebels at all. They are on the exact same side of the political, media, and academic establishment.

When confronted by Roger Hedgecock on the fact that the Compton Cookout was organized by an African American, dreadlocked professor of African American Studies Daniel Widener who organized many of the protests and sit-ins responded,

"This is an issue is an issue of campus climate, this is an issue of a campus that has never been more than 2% African American. We're not about incidents. We’re about structurally changing the University...Here at UCSD, we're trying to create a climate where every California child can get the education they deserve…"

When Hedgecock asked, "Do they deserve the public education they earn or do they earn deserve a public education based on their skin color?"

Widener responded, "I’m not sure I understand the question".

Hedgecock replied: "I didn’t think you would."

Ungrateful Obama Helped by Honduras

Tiny Honduras handed over a Syrian death merchant to face justice in the U.S. That's right: The same 'coup-government that the Obama administration reviles is one of the very few helping us fight terror.

"As shadowy moneymen in the terror underworld go, not many are as unsavory as Jamal Yousef, an ex-Syrian military man turned terrorist arms supplier. Three years ago in Honduras, undercover U.S. agents caught him trying to sell 100 AR-15 assault rifles, 100 M-16 assault rifles, 10 M-60 machine guns, C-4 explosives, 2,500 hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenades and as many as 18 surface-to-air missiles to Colombia's FARC Marxist narcoterrorists.

"His price? A ton of cocaine, something he knew how to ‘move.’

"Honduran cops put him away for petty charges, but he did only three years in prison that ended this week.

"Instead of letting him walk, the Honduran government put him on a plane bound for New York to stand trial on narcoterror conspiracy charges, arriving there Wednesday. If convicted, Yousef faces at least 20 years in one of our slammers.

"The extradition was noteworthy because Honduras has been blasted by Obama administration officials over what it claims is a coup around the Honduran Supreme Court's removal of former President Mel Zelaya, a Chavista leftist who on June 28 illegally tried to extend his term in office.

"The Obama administration presumes to know Honduran law better than the Honduran Supreme Court and has yanked visas of Honduran officials, condemned the tiny country in the United Nations and the Organization of American States, and refused to recognize anyone in the current government.

"It could be worse — economic sanctions are also possible — but it's bad enough.

"In light of how hard it is to get any nation — even a friend — to extradite a criminal to the U.S., what Honduras did for a nation that refuses to recognize its government was rather remarkable.

"Mexico, by contrast, didn't start extraditing terrorists until a couple of years ago, and other countries still refuse to do so.

"Lest we forget, Americans have suffered at the hands of the FARC. Three were held in the jungle as FARC hostages for six years, during which 11 contractors and military personnel were killed. Anyone who arms these barbarians has American as well as Colombian blood on his hands.

"Yet in its press release, the Justice Department thanks everyone and his brother for the fine police work that resulted in this extradition — everyone, that is, except the Honduran government.

"How ungrateful can we be?"

Sex For Children? Planned Parenthood Demands You Pay!

International Planned Parenthood Pushes "Sexual Rights," Abortion for Children [Excerpts]

In its new report "Stand and Deliver," the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is demanding that governments, religious institutions and society at large provide "comprehensive sexuality education" for children as young as ten years old.

In a foreword, Bert Koenders of the Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, which helped fund the publication, asserts that, "Young people have the right to be fully informed about sexuality and to have access to contraceptives and other services. These rights are enshrined in various internationally agreed human rights convention and treaties, but - unfortunately - they are still not universally respected."

According to IPPF, as "young people are sexual beings," it should be self-evident that "sexuality education promotes individual well-being and the advancement of broader societal and public health goals." IPPF argues that "comprehensive sexuality education" must be mandatory in school, and governments must also ensure that this education is delivered to those young people who are out of school.

The IPPF report stresses granting young people "unconstrained" access to sexuality education and services, "free from administrative restrictions and obstacles," like requiring health providers to obtain parental or spousal permission before providing contraceptives. IPPF demands that young people be able to "obtain the services they need and want, unconstrained by psychological, attitudinal, cultural or social factors."
IPPF targets religion and religious groups as one of the main barriers to adolescent access to sexuality education and sexual and reproductive "services." IPPF criticizes that many religious teachings "deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex and limited guidelines for sexual education often focus on abstinence before marriage," which IPPF claims has been ineffective in many settings.

According to IPPF, religious institutions - like Churches and Islamic schools - need to be "pragmatic" to accommodate young people as "sexual beings" and amend their teachings to "find a way of explaining and providing guidance on issues of sex and sexual relationships among young people, which supports rather than denies their experiences and needs."

We Agree: A Reader Responds

Loyal reader Debra J.M. Smith of www.InformingChristians.com wrote the following thought provoking piece in response to the "WE AGREE" post from yesterday :

"The Sharon Statement" was adopted on September 11, 1960. How very interesting. Then 41 years, to the day, our country was attacked.

Our country was attacked because the men and women in our U.S. government were too busy playing politics (continuous campaigning) and doing that which is not their job to do, that they failed us on "the provision of national defense."

People bicker, back and forth, as to who was at fault for 9/11. Well, the Islamic terrorists were at fault, obviously. However, the U.S. government dropped the ball. It was and is their job to protect us, and they failed to do so.

If they were in office on 9/11/01, toss them out on election day, 2010. Fire them all! They failed us, in the worst way!

Who is doing the job of Congress, defending our nation, while they fight over OUR health care? Why is not ONE Republican standing up and saying, "Hey, while you Democrats are keeping us fighting to protect our constituents' constitutionally supported freedoms, WHO THE HECK IS PROTECTING THIS NATION?"

The Republicans should be making a HUGE issue out of the fact that the people who they are having to fight to protect our freedoms, are the power hungry, vote buying, DEMOCRATS!

I have said for a long time now, that the Republicans have to go on the dog-gone OFFENSE! But they are too busy playing "nice guy" and having to show that they are nicer than the left! Well how the heck nice are they being to the American people, by not doing their job in the best way possible!

The Republicans need to go on an all-out offense and show the Democrats for what they are.

The Democrats are trying to take over everything, so that they can control the people on election day by making more and more promises with our very lives.

Nancy Pelosi knows exactly what she is doing, trying to pass this health care bill before elections. She expects us to believe that she is okay with a lot of democrats losing their positions. That is just bull. Such bull would mean that she is okay with the democrats losing control of the house and her losing control of that hammer. She didn't get all of those face lifts, to shrink away into nothingness. Nancy Pelosi is no shrinking violet! No way, there is no way that she is okay with losing that hammer.

Nancy Pelosi knows that if the health care bill passes before election day, that the democrats will then use what is in the bill as a bargaining tool, in order to get re-elected. The democrats will then claim that the republicans will not do as well with the "new health care laws" as the democrats can do. --It's the abusive spouse syndrome. The democrats will make many of their constituents believe that the very people who took their freedoms, are now their keeper, helper and life-support.

They have turned us into merchandise and are exploiting us for their gain. And many people have joined with and support the democrats in doing this, because they don't want to be spoken bad of. But, read 2 Peter 2, dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Lord will handle them quickly.

In this time of moral and political crises, it is the responsibility of the youth of America to affirm certain eternal truths.
We, as young conservatives, believe:
That foremost among the transcendent values is the individual's use of his God-given free will, whence derives his right to be free from the restrictions of arbitrary force;
That liberty is indivisible, and that political freedom cannot long exist without economic freedom;
That the purpose of government is to protect those freedoms through the preservation of internal order, the provision of national defense, and the administration of justice;
That when government ventures beyond these rightful functions, it accumulates power, which tends to diminish order and liberty;
That the Constitution of the United States is the best arrangement yet devised for empowering government to fulfill its proper role, while restraining it from the concentration and abuse of power;
That the genius of the Constitution- the division of powers- is summed up in the clause that reserves primacy to the several states, or to the people, in those spheres not specifically delegated to the Federal government;
That the market economy, allocating resources by the free play of supply and demand, is the single economic system compatible with the requirements of personal freedom and constitutional government, and that it is at the same time the most productive supplier of human needs;
That when government interferes with the work of the market economy, it tends to reduce the moral and physical strength of the nation; that when it takes from one man to bestow on another, it diminishes the incentive of the first, the integrity of the second, and the moral autonomy of both;
That we will be free only so long as the national sovereignty of the United States is secure; that history shows periods of freedom are rare, and can exist only when free citizens concertedly defend their rights against all enemies;
That the forces of international Communism are, at present, the greatest single threat to these liberties;
That the United States should stress victory over, rather than coexistance with, this menace; and
That American foreign policy must be judged by this criterion: does it serve the just interests of the United States?

The Sharon Statement

Epic Beard Man: Call the "Ambalamps"

Americans fed up with crime have found an unlikely hero in Thomas Bruso, who has been dubbed “Epic Beard Man”. In a widely circulated YouTube video posted on February 16, Bruso defends himself against a black thug. Bruso is a 67 year-old Vietnam veteran. While riding the bus in Oakland, he was talking to someone about getting his shoes shined for his mother’s funeral and a black man named Michael—whose last name is unknown—managed to get offended because the words “shoe shine”, “boy”, and “brother” were used in the same sentence. He confronted Bruso, who initially misinterpreted the man as offering to shine his shoes. Michael yelled “Why a brotha gotta spit-shine yo' shoes?” and “Why a white man can’t shine his shoes?”

Epic Beard Man responded by saying he wasn’t into prejudice, to which Michael said “You take your a-- back up there and get the f--- out mah face right now.”

Not wanting trouble, Bruso went to the front of the bus, but said “You ain’t scaring this white boy. I'm 67 years old”, as he walked away.

When Michael continues to harass Bruso, he tells him to “Sit your little black ass down.”

Needless to say, Michael does not leave him alone. Iyanna Washington, a black female college student (!) who taped the incident, egged Michael on calling Epic Beard Man “pinky”—a racial slur for Whites—and yelling, “Beat his white a--! F--- this bitch!”

Michael went to the front of the bus and sucker punched Bruso who was sitting down. But Epic Beard Man rose up and scored several clean shots to Michel's face. He was knocked to the ground and covered with blood.

Bruso then storms off the bus, yelling “He f------ hit me first! He hit me in the face! It was self defense! Don’t f--- with me boy! Don’t f--- with me!”

To tee it off, you can see a bench ad with the “keep our city clean and safe” and “I am a Motherf-----” printed on the back of Bruso’s shirt, as he walks off the bus.

Michael, who just got a bloody nose, is seen both whining to “call an amba-lamps [Ebonics for ambulance]” while at the same time saying “I will come back, I will kill dat n------[sic]”

Washington then videotapes herself going through Bruso’s bag, which he had left on the bus, yelling “Go through dat sh--!”
She tells Michael, “We can press charges, I got it on videotape”, apparently oblivious to the fact that Michael is clearly seen starting the fight and she videotaped herself stealing.

Later that day she posted the fight on YouTube, still oblivious to how bad it made her look. [Epic Beard Man, Encyclopedia Dramatica]

The video instantly became a hit. At one point, “Epic Beard Man” was the 16th most frequently searched term on Google. To date, over 3 million people have seen the original video entitled “AC TRANSIT BUS FIGHT I AM A MOTHERF*CKER.” At least another million people have seen it posted under other names like “OLD WHITE MAN BEATS THE SHIT OUT OF A WANNABE THUG ON THE BUS!” and “Epic beard old white guy beats the s*it out of *sshole black guy.”

The original video has over 50,000 comments. Virtually all of the comments praise Epic Beard Man, and many are even too politically incorrect for anyone who seeks to avoid being misunderstood as endorsing these cretins. Some of the more sober ones include:

I try to see everyone as the same and not agree with stereotypes/ racist comments until they are proven by an individuals actions. But African Americans are always complaining that whites don't like or respect them......... Well... that stupid, ignorant man picking a fight with an old man is the reason we don't. So instead of getting angry at racist comments how about you try and prove us wrong.

I love the part where the lady filming says, "I got it on tape. We can sue his *ss!!"…Mmmmmhmmm....only in can you assault someone, get your ass beat and sue.

Meanwhile, thousands of video responses and parodies are made such as making the fight look like the videogame Mortal Kombat, or animated versions imagining that Epic Beard Man was having a Vietnam Flashback.

Many videos make light of Michael’s Ebonic pronunciation of “ambulance” as either “amber lamps,” “m and ms” and “ambalamps.” There are even websites and videos devoted to an attractive girl who is sitting next to Michael on the bus, and is listening to music who manages to completely ignore the chaos a few feet away from her. She is dubbed “Amber Lamps.”

Many websites are even selling shirts with slogans like "Mess with Epic Beard Man."

What should we make out of this internet phenomenon? It is easy to dismiss it as just some silly incident between two crazy people caught on tape that brings out a few racial slurs from immature anonymous internet posters.

While the crazy banter and Bruso’s colorful personality makes this video very amusing, and allows people to get away with more politically incorrect thoughts, it is the audacity of some blacks that really inspires most of the comments. It is not just that Michael picks a fight with an old man that makes people upset. It is that he starts it because he imagines a perfectly innocuous comment is racist. It is that after he starts the fight, both he and videotaper Iyanna Washington still think they are in the right. It is that the taper thinks she can yell anti-white slurs and steal on tape without any repercussions.

Americans are glad to see someone finally fight back.

Given how self-defense is often criminalized, as in the Rodney King and Bernie Goetz cases, you need to be a little insane to stand up to the abuse.

Many commenters noted that had the situation been reversed and a white attacked an elderly black man with other whites yelling “Beat his black ass,” he would have been charged with a hate crime, which is obviously true. It is also true that had this not been caught on video tape, Epic Beard Man could very easily be charged with a hate crime himself--especially after staying “You ain’t scaring this White Boy” and “Sit your little black ass down”, even though he clearly was acting in self defense.

During the Rodney King trial, Lew Rockwell joked “Liberals talk about banning guns. As a libertarian, I can’t agree. I am, however, beginning to wonder about video cameras.”

But in 1992, no one could see videos that weren’t on the evening or cable news. The Main Stream Media selectively showed the police subduing King without the context of King violently attacking them.

No doubt if this fight were caught on tape ten years ago, theliberal MSM would splice a video together with Epic Beard Man yelling “sit your little black ass down” and then hitting Michael, without any of the context.

Big Government Conservatism Is an Oxymoron

So reads the title of the third chapter in Tom Pauken’s excellent new book, Bringing America Home (Rockford, Illinois: Chronicles Press, 2010). Pauken chronicles how Nixon/Ford retreads had begun to reassert influence over the Republican Party during the single term of George Herbert Walker Bush after Ronald Reagan left office. Dominance of a big business, “corporate liberal” elite grew during George W. Bush’s two terms in office. Worse, while the elder Bush held by and large to a realistic, balanced, and security-driven approach to international relations, a coterie of former liberal Democrats who joined the Republican Party in the late 1970s literally began running American foreign policy in the aftermath of 9/11. These neoconservatives believed in global democratic revolution, as well as preemptive and indefinite warfare to accomplish that aim.

Many were former Marxists, who transformed their communist paradigm into a similarly utopian vision for imposing democracy everywhere. If one searches for an American precursor, one may fairly conclude that it is Wilsonian. It is therefore true that progressivism had reentered the Republican Party even before the more recent emanations so apparent in the Democrat Party. By the time George W. Bush left office, a Big Government domestic crowd and a Big Government military-expansionist crowd had virtually assured runaway spending and the near financial collapse. President Obama really did inherit a mess, notwithstanding his penchant for making things worse.

The Republican Party is still digging out from shambles, but it was never the conservative principles of Goldwater/Reagan that failed. Pauken opines the Republican Party must reassert basic conservative principles, not only to do well in the next election but, in fact, to save the country. The past, à la Goldwater and Reagan, offers salient policy positions for a course correction, as do recently popular libertarian-conservative expounders of limited government and constitutional conservatism, such as Ron Paul. Paul supporters were instrumental in igniting the Tea Party movement. Paul may even be this generation’s Goldwater in terms of being the intellectual progenitor, giving rise to a fresh articulation of conservative principles and to future realization of conservative political ascendancy. How soon that ascendancy happens depends as much on what the Democrats do as Republicans, and also on how bad things get.

Pauken points out what is now widely understood across conservative ranks, that “Federal spending and unfunded federal mandates on state and local governments are completely out of control.” He then asks rhetorically, “Is there any hope whatsoever that a true federalist could actually get elected president, reduce the growth of federal spending, and return power to the states, local communities, and the people?” Sadly the question is now unanswerable, because it may depend on what emerges from the shambles of the Republican Party and whether the GOP rediscovers its conservative root. It depends as well, as it always does, on the people—whether they give in to having stirrups at their sides, and saddles cinched to their backs and Big Government riding herd.

According to Pauken, “The Republican Party of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan was a conservative party of limited government. That all changed in the post-Reagan era of Republican politics.” During the first eight years this century, Republicans came to embrace big government conservatism, but this had more in common with the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt or the Great Society of Lyndon B. Johnson than with the conservative philosophy of Goldwater and Reagan.

Neoconservative Fred Barnes lauded George W. Bush for pursuing conservative ends by traditionally liberal means, a.k.a. activist government. Barnes noted that neoconservative Republicans were favorably disposed towards a conservative welfare state. As Pauken sums it up, “A cynic might suggest that what Barnes was really saying was that there is nothing wrong with big government so long as ‘our guys’ are in charge.” Of course from the standpoint of the economy, big government conservatism still bankrupts the country and stifles recovery. From the standpoint of liberty it matters only by degree, if one master happens to be more benevolent than another. From the standpoint of the Constitution, however, it matters not one whit.

Chile vs Haiti: Proof That Obama is Wrong

Why is it that the Haitian earthquake resulted in far worse fatalities and destruction relative to the far larger Chilean quake?

An initial report of 214 deaths marked the 8.8 Chilean quake as well as massive destruction, and yet the shaking did not result in the total collapse of infrastructure, government and basic necessities that Haiti experienced.

Why?

Could it be that the regime of Augusto Pinochet saved thousands of lives?

The Chilean government has not asked for outside help (unlike Haiti). Why?

Pinochet gets a lot of criticism among leftists, liberals and the managed media. Why?

Pinochet killed a few thousand communists extra-judicially to avoid the mass murder of several hundreds of thousands (or more) that has proceeded from every communist revolution worldwide. And, in the process, he reformed Chile’s economy from the typical Latin American “great man” national socialism of such varied leaders as Juan Peron, Hugo Chavez, and Fidel Castro to a market-style, limited-government regime, with privatization of social security and consistent economic growth. In the process, he voluntarily ended his military rule through a peaceful election in 1989, unlike heroes of the left such as Castro.

Jose Pinera, Chile’s former labor and social security minister, today explains why the US is now headed towards the bankruptcy all too typical of South America unless it follows Chile’s lead, one based on the Austrian School/American-style free market principles and the insights of the Chicago School of Economics.

Despite the earthquake being a magnitude 8.8, the early reports state a death toll around 200. One of the major reasons the death toll will be orders of magnitude below Haiti is Chile is the wealthiest country outside Canada and the US in the Americas. Chile could afford to build more structurally sound buildings and infrastructure designed to withstand this earthquake. The main reason Chile can afford earthquake-proof structures is the economic policies imposed, I think you can use that term literally, by General Pinochet and his Chicago Boys, advisers with degrees from U. Chicago and disciples of Milton Friedman. Even after he stepped down from power, the left-of-center parties have not dared to touch his program of economic liberalization. If Allende stayed in power and imposed his Marxist vision, the death toll would most likely be in the thousands as his Marxist policies would of driven Chile into becoming another cesspit like Cuba and North Korea. Thanks to Pinochet thousands of Chileans survived this quake.

The common thread is a rejection of the Obamaesque socialist model of identity politics and government control of healthcare and the economy.The Chilean people have accomplished miracles with their economy that has created an infrastructure far superior to the Third World hellholes that embrace Marxist/Socialist dogma.

Remember that Leftist darling Salvador Allende had his death squads circulating in Chile, made up of mostly outsiders from Cuba and East Germany. The death toll due to them was much higher than attributed to Pinochet. Pinochet was also requested to overthrow Allende by the courts and a coalition in the House of Deputies, since Allende’s party only had 35 percent of the seats in the House of Deputies. That is something you will NEVER hear from the lefty media and academia.

Stop Obamacare Socialism Now! Schlafly's Top Ten

The American people oppose Obamacare by almost 2 to 1 in the latest CNN poll. Other polls also show lopsided opposition to passing either the Senate or House health-care bill. Public opinion is against the bill because of its obscene costs in higher taxes, burdensome debt, anti-freedom mandates, rationing, and reduced care for seniors. The American people have awakened to the fact that Obamacare is transformational legislation that will drag us against popular will into European-style Socialism.

The Democrats' double-counting of Obamacare's financial benefits has been exposed as a colossal lie. Harry Reid told the Senate that his bill strengthens our future by both "cutting our towering national deficit by as much as $1.3 trillion over the next 20 years" and "strengthening Medicare and extending its life by nearly a decade."
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) refuted that assertion. CBO said the claim that Obamacare would provide these benefits simultaneously "would essentially double-count a large share of those savings and thus overstate the improvement in the government's fiscal position."

Obamacare is unconstitutional because of its mandate that all individuals must carry "approved" health insurance, and all businesses must give health insurance to their employees whether or not the company can afford it. "Universal" coverage will be enforced by the Internal Revenue Service with power to punish those who don't have such a plan.The Commerce Clause does not give Congress this authority.

Since the Senate bill imposes sharp limits on health-insurance companies' ability to raise fees or exclude coverage, it likely will force many of them out of business. Obamacare is unconstitutional because it violates the Bill of Rights protections against takings without just compensation and against deprivation of property without due process of law.

Obamacare blatantly legislates racial and other discrimination. The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights sent two letters to the President and congressional leaders warning about the obnoxious requirements for racist and sexist quotas. The Senate bill requires that "priority" for federal grants be given to institutions offering "preferential" admissions to minorities (race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, and religion). Institutions training social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, behavioral pediatricians, psychiatric nurses, and counselors will be ineligible for federal grants unless they enroll "individuals and groups from different racial, ethnic, cultural, geographic, religious, linguistic, and class backgrounds, and different genders and sexual orientations."

Obama's claim that "everybody" will now be covered creates few winners but lots of losers. Universal health insurance will be achieved by forcing young people to pay the additional costs (insurance for the youngest third of the population would rise by 35%), and by rationing care for the elderly.

According to Robert Samuelson in the Washington Post, the "wild card is immigration." From 1999 to 2008, 60% of the increase in the uninsured occurred among Hispanics (many of whom are in our country illegally), and Obama's refusal to close our borders will make this problem more costly every year.

Obamacare gives Medicare bureaucrats the power to ration health care by forcing doctors to prescribe cheaper medical devices and drugs. In the recent case of Hays v. Sebelius, the court ruled that Medicare doesn't have the right to make this rule, but Obamacare takes jurisdiction away from the courts to hear any appeal from decisions of the new Medicare Commission. Financial penalties will be imposed on doctors if they refer too many patients to specialists.

The Senate bill contains at least a dozen of what are often called Sweetheart Deals, but the more accurate term is bribe. Senator Mary Landrieu received a $300 million increase in Medicaid funding for her state (known as the Second Louisiana Purchase), and Senator Ben Nelson received a $100 million permanent exemption for Nebraska from the costs of Medicaid expansion.

The Senate bill has a four-page section artfully written to enable ACORN to get federal health-care grants. This section describes grant recipients as "community and consumer-focused nonprofit groups" having "existing relationships . . . with uninsured and underinsured consumers."

While treating a cut on the hand of an 85 year old rancher, whose hand had been caught in the gate while working his cattle outside of Calvin, Oklahoma, the doctor struck up a conversation with the wise older man.

Eventually the topic got around to Obama, and his being the president. The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is just a Post Turtle."

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked, What's a "Post Turtle?"

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle."

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain.. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he sure as heck ain't goin' anywhere, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place."

Can You Spot Reality? * Guest Columnist Andrew Klavan

Culture in America is an enchanted place where the conservative facts of life are magically transformed into liberal fantasies. In movies, TV shows, novels, even comedy routines, our intellectuals, entertainers, and other fools are busily reshaping reality into works of art through their piercing insights into what will get them good reviews and awards, and through their rich and varied experience of the café in the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

To illustrate, I’ll give you some examples. See if you can spot the difference between reality and American culture. In reality, President John F. Kennedy was a fierce Cold Warrior who twice tripled America’s military presence in the Vietnam War to try to stop the spread of Communism and risked nuclear disaster by standing up to the Soviet Union in Cuba. He was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, an America-hating leftist who had once defected to the USSR.

Now, the culture: in Oliver Stone’s film JFK—nominated for Best Picture Oscar in 1991—Kennedy is a peaceful lefty contemplating a withdrawal from Vietnam. He’s assassinated by a vast right-wing cabal that includes every single person in America except for Oliver Stone. Reality, culture. Can you spot the difference?

Here’s another: in reality, Terri Schiavo was a severely brain-damaged woman who was judicially starved to death in 2005 at the request of her husband, while evangelical Christian right-to-life groups unsuccessfully petitioned to keep her alive. In the culture, a 2005 episode of Law and Order entitled “Age of Innocence” depicted a severely brain-damaged woman whose husband tried to euthanize her—until he was murdered at the instigation of an evangelical Christian right-to-lifer. In reality, evangelical Christians try to keep people alive. In the culture, they murder people. That’s a subtle one, I know—but can you spot the difference?

Let’s try again. Isn’t this fun? In reality, anthropological studies have shown that primitive societies are even more violent than civilized ones. Primitive life is pretty miserable in general, with no protection against drought or famine, no medicine—so that even the simplest diseases can be deadly—and no equality for women, who have zero defense against pregnancy or oppression.

Now let’s look at the culture. In films such as Dances with Wolves, Pocahontas, and now Avatar—which are really all the same film—a civilized man enters primitive society and finds its values far superior to his own. The collectivist natives are peaceful, the women are treated with respect, and ancient forms of medicine work as well as modern ones.

Spot the difference? Right! In reality, it’s civilization, democracy, capitalism, and technology that give us greater health, equality, and happiness. So when you go to see Avatar and enjoy its special effects and 3-D imagery, just think to yourself, wow, we’d never have anything as cool as that if we lived like the Indians. I mean, they never even invented the wheel!

Hey, and speaking of Avatar, it not only celebrates being at one with the sacred Earth, but portrays U.S. soldiers as evil sadists out to destroy native peoples. Can you spot the difference between Avatar and, say, Haiti, where our old pal the sacred Earth slaughtered innocent people by the thousands and the U.S. military turned out in a massive rescue effort?

But in our culture, the U.S. military is always evil, housewives are always desperate, corporations are always corrupt, and poverty is always the fault of wealthy people’s greed. Can you spot the difference between those assumptions and reality?

If you can’t, you’re probably a liberal. And a knucklehead.

Mount Vernon Statement and the Battle for the Republic* Guest Columnist

Not far from the home of George Washington, leaders of major conservative organizations signed “the Mount Vernon Statement” on 17 February, the day before their annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) began in Washington, D.C. The statement was billed in the press as something of a manifesto or list of principles similar in scope to the Sharon Statement of 1960, a statement by conservative intellectuals which gave rise to Goldwater’s takeover of the GOP and eventually to Reagan’s national triumph in 1980. If the Mount Vernon Statement is like the Sharon Statement, and there are differences, let’s hope it doesn’t take as long to reach electoral fruition. The country may not have as long to wait.

Among those who signed the statement and indeed helped to orchestrate the event, was former Attorney General Edwin Meese III. Other signatories read like a Who’s Who of conservative thinkers and activists: Ed Feulner, Jr., president of the Heritage Foundation; Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council; Alfred Regnery, publisher; David Keene, president of the American Conservative Union; David McIntosh, co-founder of the Federalist Society; Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform; William Wilson, president of Americans for Limited Government; Richard Viguerie of direct mail fame, who also chairs ConservativeHQ.com; and many others. Their coming together is a symbolic gesture of unity to be sure, but it is also a material step towards formation of a new conservative consensus. It is the start of the next phase, as it were, in the history of an impressively resilient and adaptive movement in American politics. The next phase in the life of the conservative movement is turning out to be Constitutional Conservatism. Said another way, the neo-conservatism of the Bush years has given way to neo-federalism, reminiscent of Reagan but more forceful in terms of states rights and separation of powers.

The content of the Mount Vernon Statement is less intellectual than that of the original Sharon Statement. Signers of the Mount Vernon Statement would presumably find most if not all of the Sharon Statement, as true today as when it was written in 1960. Indeed, the Sharon Statement was about “transcendent values” and tenets of American conservatism that change but little over time. That said, national priorities have dramatically shifted in the intervening 50 years, and of course communism is no longer “the greatest single threat to [our] liberties.” What the Mount Vernon Statement lacks in detail and sophistication, however, it makes up for in clarity. Moreover, it explicitly announces a declaration of political war, which stakes the future of the conservative movement on “retaking and resolutely defending the high ground of America’s founding principles.”

Signatories of the Mount Vernon Statement in effect, “recommit [themselves]…to the ideas of the American Founding.” They contend that, “Through the Constitution, the Founders created an enduring framework of limited government based on the rule of law…[and likewise] sought to secure national independence, provide for economic opportunity, establish true religious liberty and maintain a flourishing society of republican self-government.” The signatories further assert that it is these very principles most responsible for the unparalleled prosperity and justice of our nation and as such, the principles constitute “our highest [political] achievements.” Yet according to the Statement, “Each one…is presently under sustained attack”! In an oblique reference to modern progressives and possibly to president Obama himself, the Mount Vernon Statement makes reference to “Some [who] insist that America must change, cast off the old and put on the new,” suggesting that those who do, deal in “empty promise or … dangerous deception.”

The Mount Vernon Statement is helping to draw the battle lines for 2010 and 2012, and quite possibly beyond. No less than the future of the Republic—or its end, will be determined in our own time. The case made by the Mount Vernon Statement is so simple and fundamentally clear, it calls every citizen to witness again the miracle of Constitutional Convention and to either accept or reject its eternal thesis. Either we shall renew our Spirit and advocate for ancient American rights and liberty, or else we shall fail in our role as Posterity to free and brave men and succumb to the lure of command.

Since nature provides diversity, this deadening sameness can be achieved only by brute force, by leveling, enforced assimilation, exile, genocide. All forms of totalitarianism, all leftist ideologies, reaching their culmination in the French, Russian, and German Revolutions, have gone that way -- with the aid of guillotine, gallows, gas chambers, and Gulag."

The Principles of The Portland Declaration; Erik Ritter von Kuehnelt-Leddihn (1909 - 1999)

According to his friend William F. Buckley, Dr. Kuehnelt-Leddihn was “the world’s most fascinating man.” Born in AustriaHungary on July 31, 1909, he studied theology, along with civil and canon law, at the University of Vienna. Afterward, he received his doctorate in political science at the University of Budapest.

Dr. Kuehnelt-Leddihn was a true man of letters. He spoke eight languages and read eleven others.His English books include Leftism Revisited, An Intelligent American’s Guide to Europe, and Liberty or Equality. He had a lasting influence on modern American conservatism (which he preferred to call by its European and, as he thought, more descriptive term liberalism).

Now, in the age of Obama, every American should consider his words.

The Portland Declaration: A Summary

1. Our immensely complex universe can only be the result of either mere chance or a conscious design. We believe that it has an Originator as well as a Designer-- God.
2. Only to man can this world be meaningful in every respect: spiritually, morally, aesthetically, economically.
3. Only man is a transcendent creature. He realizes that, if there is a personal God, everything is possible, if there is no God, everything is permissible.
4. Every man or woman is truly a person and unique. No two persons are identical or equal, least of all in the eyes of God.
5. With the beasts we share a craving for sameness, but the delight in the variations of creation distinguishes man from beast as much as religion and reason do.
6. Sameness and with it the dislike of otherness is the hallmark of leftism: it is an evil totalitarian instinct which fashioned the French, Russian and German revolutions with their gaols("jail"), guillotines, gallows, gas chambers and Gulags.
7. In all languages, whether dead or modern, "Left" stands for negative, "Right" for positive principles.
8. Men and women are equally important, but their innate characteristics favor (and sometimes rationally preclude) certain occupations and vocations.
9. The family is the living cell of every society. (Man is the creature who knows his grandfather.) It is based on sex, eros. friendship, affection and charity, friendship being the most important factor because loyalty pertains to it rather than to sexuality or Eros.
10. A healthy society is not a monolith, but consists of various well correlated lasers and groups with different qualities and functions. However, neither society nor state should be permitted to become absolutes.
11. The state is the result of man's frailty and incompleteness, Its legitimacy rests not only on authority but, due to Man's fallen nature, also on exterior power. Authority rests on love, or respect, or rational insight, it is an interior force.
12. The state has an "annexationist" character tending toward centralization and the development of a Provider State. We must uphold the principle of subsidiarity. Action should always be taken by the smallest possible unit. starting with the person.
13. What we now have is maximal government of the lowest quality; what we need is minimal government of the highest order.
14. There is no escape from "technocracy." Reason, knowledge and experience must reenter government at the expense of popularity and passions. Parliaments should faithfully mirror public opinion and might have purely legislative powers, but they must not become policy-forming bodies. Government should rest on first-rate expertise and respect for personal freedom.
15. Freedom is inseparable from personal property, socialism produces only equality in poverty.
16. The family can delegate its educational tasks to other bodies. Nobody should be taxed for educational facilities not used by them. It is, however, in the interest of the community that real talent (and diligence) should be fostered.
17. The identification of state and religion is pagan. Their separation, however, should not preclude cooperation because they have common interests and overlapping fields of action.
18. Ethnicity, race and citizenship are separate concepts, the first being cultural, the second biological, the third legal. They should not be confused. Legal discriminations or automatic preferences on account of ethnicity or race in the public-sector are plainly immoral.
19. Only a person with convictions has a genuine possibility to be tolerant. He who accepts no absolute values but clings to polite doubt cannot be tolerant but merely indifferent. He is morally defenseless in the face of evil.
20. Tradition, i.e., loyalty toward inherited convictions and institutions, which includes discarding obsolete or false ones, has a positive value.
21. The good man is a patriot and not a "nationalist," he delights in the human varieties within his country.
22. Foreign relations require an enormous amount of knowledge and experience. They are intrinsically connected with our survival. International institutions can be of great value, but the United Nations in their present form and in the present state of our globe has often produced more harm than good.
23. Professional armies are, for various reasons, preferable to armies based on conscription, but if the latter system is adopted by certain world powers, others might have to follow suit -- at least temporarily.
24. Legal positivism has no moral moorings. Justice is not equality but is based on Ulpian's "to everyone his due."
25. Man has rights as well as duties and these must be distinguished from acts of charity which might become moral, but not legal obligations.
26. Freedom is not an end in itself but a condition to live and to act in. "As much freedom as possible, as much coercion as necessary." The common good marks the limits of freedom.

Tiger Woods: Born Again Buddhist?

At today’s press conference, Tiger Woods made specific note of how he lost what he’d been taught having been raised Buddhist by his mother. When news of Tiger Woods affairs broke, most people questioned his faith and spirituality, most notably, Fox News analyst Brit Hume who actively suggested that Tiger would be better off forsaking Buddhism for the more redemptive and forgiving Christianity.

Buddhism is inferior to Christianity when it comes to forgiveness of sins, according to Fox News pundit Brit Hume. Tiger Woods should reject the false teachings of Buddhism and become a Christian to be forgiven for cheating on his wife, Hume told Fox News' Chris Wallace.
"The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith," said Hume. "He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of redemption and forgiveness offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger is, 'Tiger turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

Woods is the most famous among several American celebrity Buddhists, including Richard Gere, Herbie Hancock, Steven Seagal, Leonard Cohen and Tina Turner.

What will be interesting is to see how our managed "mainstream" media spins this little tidbit. Will Tiger Woods be portrayed as a narrow-minded, fundamentalist bigot? If not, why not? He implicitly denied the validity of all other religions by his remarks. One can be certain that had Woods accepted Brit Hume's advice he would be openly mocked in the media.

By rejecting Jesus and embracing Buddhism, Tiger Woods believes that he can somehow "earn" his way into the Buddhist "heaven."

Good-works salvation is hardly just a Buddhist mistake; it's the one ticket to heaven in the minds of most people the world over. All the world religions, including many which claim to be "Christian," require the individual to perform certain acts in order to "merit" entrance to heaven or a place of eternal bliss. Hindus believe they must go through innumerable life cycles or reincarnations, paying for the misdeeds of each former life while hoping against hope that their present life will not add to their future suffering. Various yoga practices provide the ways and means to attain moksha, or fusion with the infinite.

Buddhism, the "in" religion of the managed media, involves the practice of the "Noble Eightfold Path", which is said to end cycles of suffering by abolishing all desire. Nirvana is reached by the perfect practice of the eight ways of right living: 1) right viewpoint, 2) right aspiration, 3) right speech, 4) right behavior, 5) right occupation, 6) right effort, 7) right mindfulness, and 8) right meditation. That this is presently the most favored religion of Hollywood is rather ironic.

According to an article in The Denver Post (08/09/2009), "What in the recent past seemed exotic and foreign is now almost routinely folded into "the fold." Buddhism is not only accepted as a mainstream American religion, it is a path increasingly trod by faithful Christians and Jews who infuse Eastern spiritual insights and practices such as meditation into their own religions. There are Jubus--Jews who bring Buddhism into their practice of Judaism--and Bujus, who are Buddhists with Jewish parents. Then there are UUbus, or Unitarian Universalist Buddhists, and Ebus, or Episcopalian Buddhists."

This is trendy and shallow, worldy philosophy at its worst. This "cafeteria style" religion is in no way Christianity. It's important to understand and believe the simple Gospel, which is mankind's only way to be reconciled to God. Buddhism is a bridge to ancient paganism, and as a "path increasingly trod by [un]faithful Christians," it is a highway that leads to eternal separation from God.

The best, most forthright exposition on the entire matter was given in an Open Letter composed by a Swedish Pastor. This Pastor may be wrong about some things but where is he mistaken regarding this media circus and the theological implications of Tiger Woods?:

"You have asked for privacy, but that can’t be expected because you are a world renowned golfer with handlers who market you as a commodity. Your handlers and the American media have built you up as a celebrity and role model for young people. You have not rejected the fame and the fortune, but as a savvy businessman, you have been riding the surf to the top and it has brought you great riches and fame. But now you are a fallen hero like Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and so many other young celebrities. Money and fame do not build morality and character but have the tendency of doing the opposite. Why has your life crashed all around you? Why was your wife upset when she found out you committed adultery with several women? The reason your life has come down and crashed is that you have no moral foundation; you are a modern heathen who has been your own god, even if you claim to be a Buddhist.

YOUR FATHER FAILED YOU

Your father was an American hero who served in the armed forces with great bravery. He served two full tours in Vietnam, was a member of the Green Berets, and made the U.S. Army his career and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He went on to teach Military Science and Tactics at the City College in New York.

Your father was a patriot but his personal life was a failure. When he married Barbara Gary in 1954, he made a commitment until death. God blessed them with three children. But in 1968, your father broke the vow and divorced his wife. Another failure in your father’s life was that he did not know God so he couldn’t teach you about God. When he married your mother (Kultida) in 1969, he knew that she was of the Buddhist religion and did not know the God of the Bible, who is also the Creator of all things. Your mother follows a man who stated in his own writings before he died that he never found what he was looking for. And now you continue to follow the same man who failed to find the answer to life.

Your father started early on in training you to become a great golf player. Golf was the most important subject in your life during your entire childhood and your father spared nothing to make sure that one day you would end up at the top. You are now considered one of the best golfers in the world and you have also achieved fame and fortune at an early age. But your father did not understand that a man must have a moral upbringing in order to build character and have integrity. In this area you are a dwarf, totally empty on the inside. God created man to have fellowship with God. When there is no fellowship with God, man must fill that void with something like money, fame, sexual lust, etc.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

You have said that the Buddhist faith from your mother has helped you to control your stubbornness and impatience but what about your lustful sexual appetite for women? Are you aware that Thailand is the worst nation in the world when it comes to sex trade? Pedophiles from all over the world travel there to pay for sexual acts with children, some of them as young as three or four years old. Boys and girls are sold as sex slaves to furnish the whorehouses and the homosexual establishments for lewd men and women coming from all over the world to satisfy their filthy sexual perversions.

When you married Elin Nordegren, who worked for your friend Jesper Parnevik in 2004, you took a vow to stay true to her as your wife and forsake all other women. Buddha has no solution for a man that has committed adultery, only Jesus can help you and your wife. No religion, friends, rehab or anything you buy will help. Has your life reached a low enough point that you are willing to let Jesus help you?

Elin came from a broken home because her father (Thomas Nordegren) let her down when he divorced her mother (Barbro Holmberg). Your wife comes from a dysfunctional broken family, and since Barbro is a strong member of the Swedish Social Democratic Party and at one time held the post as Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy, it does not look like her mother knew Jesus either. Thus, Elin has no inner strength and no one to pray to, so she cannot give comfort to your children when they learned that daddy has been unfaithful to their mother.

All over the world people have lost their way, and instead of turning to God, they abuse alcohol and drugs, trying to find comfort in sexual escapades and hope in various religions. But there is Jesus who can give you and Elin the relief you seek. Jesus was God’s own son who died on the cross for you and all people in the world. He rose from the dead after three days, returned to heaven and our Heavenly Father and now intercedes for people to be saved and born again.

Forty years from now most of the people in the world will have forgotten your name and will not even remember how great a golfer you were. Look at all the sport stars before you that have been forgotten with time. Only those people who have contributed their lives to helping others or achieved something great which helped mankind are remembered. But even these people will fade away as we will enter eternity, and the only people that will be remembered will be those who walked with God and represented Jesus to a dying world. Look at what Jesus said some 2000 years ago:

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:24-26 KJV)

There is only one way to victory for you and Elin, repent of your sins, ask God to forgive you and receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. This is what Jesus said about salvation:

'Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.' (John 3:3-8 KJV)"

Obama Fan Murders Three in Killing Spree: Obama to Blame?

The murderer who went on a killing rampage at the University of Alabama was known to be a fanatical Obama supporter.

Police in Huntsville, Alabama charged Amy Bishop, 44, with capital murder after she allegedly opened fire on six colleagues at a faculty meeting Friday, killing three.

The Boston Herald reports that Bishop was a far-left political extremist who was “obsessed” with President Obama "to the point of being off-putting." This is a Boston newspaper, so just how into Obama must this woman have been?

The title of this post is a simulation of what the headlines would have screamed had she been a member of the Tea Party movement. Simply replace "Obama Fan" with "Tea Party" and President Obama's name with Christianity, Glenn Beck or conservatives in general, and you have a pretty good idea as to how this ghastly tragedy would be exploited.

It turns out that, typical of leftists, she exhibited an overinflated sense of self worth. The Boston Herald reports:

"There have been revelations since the shooting that she killed her brother with a shotgun in Braintree, Mass., in 1986 but was never charged because police said it was an accident, and that she and her husband were scrutinized in 1993 after someone sent pipe bombs to a Harvard professor she worked with. The bombs did not go off and no one was ever charged in that case either.

In 2002, Bishop was charged with assault, battery and disorderly conduct after a tirade at the International House of Pancakes in Peabody, Mass. Peabody police Capt. Dennis Bonaiuto said Bishop became incensed when she found out another woman had received the restaurant’s last booster seat. Bishop punched the frightened mother in her head while shouting, "I am Dr. Amy Bishop." When police questioned Bishop, she claimed to be the victim, the report stated."

All of this is deeply disturbing, but so is the utter silence of the left-wing, "mainstream" media regarding her obsession with Obama and left-wing, "progressive" politics.

Clearly Mr. Obama is absolutely innocent of any involvement in this tragic attack. However, it is inconceivable that the same incident if perpetrated by an evangelical Christian, a conservative or a right-to-life demonstrator would be treated in the same manner.

Calls would be made by Rahm Emmanuel and Michelle Obama to limit free speech, silence Fox News and license churches. The connection to the criminal's faith/politics would be repeated like a mantra by Katie Couric, Keith Olbermann and every Leftist newspaper in the country.

Remember how the media uses double standards the next time some liberal attempts to moan about "right wing" talk radio, Glenn Beck or the "threat" that conservatives pose to the republic
